I really shouldn't get riled by this idiot anymore but Sean Connery's hypocrisy never fails to take my breath away. After the jump the Spanish resident mouths off about Scottish independence yet again.
Just as well that no-one pays much attention to anything he says.
Note also that the photo was taken in Washington DC which is about as close to Edinburgh that he gets these days.

His opinion on Scottish politics doesn't count for much, that's true, as he can't be bothered to live here. But, ask yourself, if you could chose to live anywhere in the world would you stay here? Thinking about it JK Rowling does, so respect goes to her.
Anyway, I'm more interested what you think about Independence that what some world-famous knighted actor may or may not have to say on the matter.
Personally, I'm all for it. I especially want to see the BBC fall over itself attempting to produce some genuine Scottish news, for a change.
Independence = economic doom, fellow blog fan. Sad but true. Anyway, would you really want to be governed by the quality of politicians currently sitting at Holyrood? You'd make a better stab at it than most of these chumps.
BTW, Connery still is the best Bond. Goldfinger the best movie. Reputation ruined somewhat by "Medicine Man" though. And Highlander II.

I think Independence would be a disaster for Scotland. The entire premise is based upon the SNP going cap-in-hand to Europe and expecting to be given millions in grants and subsidies – this would do nothing to encourage much needed innovation and job creation but would create a generation of spongers!
I also find it ironic that a nation which is so insular, where the small-minded reign and where racism is endemic, should turn to Europe for an answer to its problems.
I’ve been accused of being anti-Scottish on this Blog – but it precisely because I love Scotland so much that I get so fucking annoyed with the numpties that are running the country. Instead of wasting so much time debating Independence they would do well to take a good hard look at the state of the Nation and take steps to rectify the problems.
Until this happens I for one will continue to cynically take the piss out of them all from the comfort of London.
